Norway's Best Region
Stavanger and Rogaland have several times been voted as the best region to live and grow up in, and Norway is ranked as the best country to live in according to BBC The business sector has topped the 2000's "Nærings-NM", a national analysis that ranks the country's regions with respect to profitability, growth and establishment of new businesses.
We aim at keeping the position as the metropolitan region in Norway which offers the highest competitiveness and which helps to stimulate innovation in the country. To maintain this position, a continual focus on strategies and measures that strengthen the business sector in the region is required.
We are an International Facilitator
In 1993, the Stavanger region was the first in Norway to establish its own European office in Brussels. The Stavanger region's European Office is a regional center of knowledge with regards to the European Union and Europe. Through sharing of information, seminars and direct contact with the European market, we wish to help ease the path to Europe.
In 2004, we contributed to establishing an office in Houston. The Stavanger region's Houston office is a listening post in one of the world's biggest energy cities. The office is now run by five equal partners: Stavanger University Hospital (SUS), University of Stavanger (UiS), IRIS (International Researach Insitute of Stavanger, ONS (Offshore Northern Seas) and Greater Stavanger.
